UK cuts foreign aid to boost defence spend ahead of Trump visit

UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer meets the US President Donald Trump in Washington in a couple of days time and the announcement of a fast-track increase in UK defence spending was certainly framed to appeal to the US. (Subscribe: https://bit.ly/C4_News_Subscribe)

‘European nations must do more for their own defence – that is a completely reasonable point’ – the words of the Prime Minister this afternoon.

And that increase to 2.5% of GDP over the next two years will be paid for by a deep cut in overseas aid spending.
