UK economy flatlined in January

The UK economy failed to grow in January – according to the Office for National Statistics – which described the figures as "subdued".

Experts had predicted a slight rise in GDP.

There was no growth at all in the services sector while fewer people went out to eat – with a 2.7% fall in services related to food and drink.
