Defence Secretary John Healey insists that blocking some arms sales to Israel does not amount to a "blanket ban".
The government announced on Monday the partial suspension of around 30 export licences.
Mr Healey said the decision was judged on "whether there is a clear risk that anything we supply from this country could be linked to a serious violation of international humanitarian law".
