UK inflation falls thanks to food and petrol prices

The Office for National Statistics said inflation in January was down to 3%, compared to 3.4% in December. It’s raised hopes that the Bank of England might be able to cut interest rates next month, while Chancellor Rachel Reeves said she hoped inflation would return to the government’s 2% target in the coming months.
