UK stargazers wake up to a rare ‘blood moon’ | ITV News

The moon darkens as it moves into the Earth’s shadow and eventually turns red – which is how the cosmic phenomenon earned its nickname.

It is the first lunar eclipse since May 2022, when the moon turned completely red.
