Ukraine allies call on Putin to commit to 30-day ceasefire

Ukraine’s allies have called on President Putin to commit to a thirty-day ceasefire. Joining other European leaders in Kyiv, the Prime Minister said Russia had to show it was “serious about peace” or face “new and massive sanctions”.

But a day after more than 20 world leaders travelled to Moscow for a victory day parade, the Kremlin condemned what it called the “confrontational character” of the leaders’ statements.

But it said Russia would consider the ceasefire proposal.
