There was a flurry of hope this lunchtime when reports raced around the world that Ukraine had agreed to a revised version of President Trump’s latest ceasefire blue print.

Ukraine’s President Zelenskyy has, at least, agreed to keep talking about the revised plan.

President Trump claimed a deal is close and is despatching envoys to both sides.
