Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskiy welcomes US Senate aid bill

Ukraine’s president, Volodymyr Zelenskiy, has welcomed a senate bill that passed through the Democrat-dominated upper chamber with an aid package for Ukraine, amid divisions with Republicans over the delayed bill. In a video message, Zelenskiy said: ‘The world is waiting for American leadership to remain steadfast and help protect lives and preserve freedom. This truly contributes to confidence and motivation.’

The US bill is yet to be voted on in the Republican-controlled House of Representatives, where it has long faced opposition.
