UK's toxic dumps: what lies beneath?

The government says its scientists are “carefully considering” Sky News testing which has found hundreds of toxic chemicals and fumes at illegal waste sites – some posing a “serious health risk” to humans.

Over the last 6 months, Sky News has worked with scientists from Oxford Indices to conduct testing of air, water and soil at three of the country’s largest dumps in Gloucester, Wigan and Doncaster.

Tests of fumes at one site, which have impacted a local primary school, were found to be four times more toxic than emissions from a car exhaust.
