Unite votes to 're-examine relationship with Labour'

Unite has voted to suspend the membership of the deputy Labour Party leader Angela Rayner in a dispute over the Birmingham bin strike.

The union said it was also re-assessing its long-standing relationship with the party.

Unite has accused Birmingham council of being a "rogue council" and of trying to fire and then rehire bin workers on a lower salary.

Union bosses say Ms Rayner should have intervened in support of the staff.
