Up to 8,000 British travellers in Jamaica, foreign secretary says | Hurricane Melissa

Yvette Cooper has been speaking about Hurricane Melissa in the Commons.

The foreign secretary told MPs that the Foreign Office’s crisis centre is operating 24 hours a day to assist Britons, and the defence ministry was supporting efforts.

She said there were 50,000 dual nationals living in Jamaica, and up to 8,000 Britons who may be travelling there or on holiday.
