US-China trade war fears grow as White House confirms 104% tariffs on some Chinese goods | ITV News

The two most economically powerful countries in the world are heading for a trade war over tariffs – China and America.
China is refusing to back down and reduce its tariffs on American goods so President Trump is following through on his threat – adding 50% to the current rate, totalling 104% on some imported Chinese goods.

ITV News’ US Correspondent Dan Rivers spoke to suppliers in America who are warning of a jump in costs as the impact of tariffs is felt. Nike footwear, car parts, and iPhone could all see price rises due to import costs.

One shop owner said she will look into buying from other countries to try to reduce price increases but they warn some rises are inevitable.

US representatives spoke of wanting to engage with China on tariffs but China responded it was ready to "fight to the end". And there are differing opinions in the US too – even from Trump’s close ally Elon Musk. • Subscribe to ITV News on YouTube: http://bit.ly/2lOHmNj
