Video released by the military showed it had “eliminated” sixteen vessels.
Reports emerged this week claiming Iran had been laying mines in the Strait.
Meanwhile, three ships have also been hit by unknown projectiles.
Maritime security agencies said they were carrier and container ships flagged from Thailand, Japan and the Marshall Islands.
The Strait, which is a crucial transfer point for oil tankers in the Persian Gulf, has been effectively closed since the US and Israel began its attacks on Iran.
