US strikes pacific vessel in apparent widening of anti-drug trafficking effort

Two people were killed when the U.S. military hit a suspected drug-smuggling boat in the eastern Pacific, officials confirmed Tuesday. The strike marks the first outside the Caribbean in a growing U.S. campaign that’s now claimed 34 lives across eight operations.
