US supports 'just and lasting peace' for Ukraine, Kamala Harris tells Zelenskiy

As world leaders gathered at a Ukrainian summit in Switzerland, the US vice-president, Kamala Harris, called for Ukraine to be included in all settlements, saying: ‘Let nothing about the end of this war be decided without Ukraine.’

She went on to say: ‘Yesterday Putin put forward a proposal, but we must speak truth, he is not calling for negotiations.’ The Swiss government said 80 of the 90 countries in attendance signed up to the final communique document. Those that did not included India, Saudi Arabia, South Africa and the United Arab Emirates. The communique reiterated that Ukraine’s ‘territorial integrity’ should be respected in any peace deal to end the war, as they said ‘dialogue between all parties’ would be necessary for a lasting settlement
