Vladimir Putin had Alexei Navalny killed to thwart prisoner swap, allies claim

Alexei Navalny’s allies have alleged that Vladimir Putin had him killed to sabotage a prisoner swap in which the opposition leader would have been exchanged for a hitman jailed in Germany. Maria Pevchikh, a close ally of Navalny’s, said in a video that he and two US nationals were to be exchanged for Vadim Krasikov, an FSB security service agent serving a life sentence for the assassination of a Chechen separatist in Berlin
