Hayli Gubbi is a long-dormant volcano in the Afar region, but on Sunday an eruption sent large ash plumes into the sky and caused tremors in the area.

A day before the eruption, a Channel 4 News team was at the nearby Erta Ale volcano, which is only nine miles away from Hayli Gubbi.

No casualties have been reported, but the ash could impact the livelihoods of livestock owners in the area.
