Volcano erupts in Iceland forcing tourists to evacuate

A volcano erupted again to the south of Iceland’s capital Reykjavik, on Tuesday, spewing lava and smoke.

Emergency services evacuated the popular Blue Lagoon spa and a red alert has been issued for the area. The North Atlantic island nation has now seen 11 eruptions south of Reykjavik since 2021. An eruption in January 2024 damaged homes and roads in the area Grindavik.
