Over a third of people think Rachel Reeves exaggerated economic bad news in the run-up to the budget, a Sky News YouGov poll has found.
Just 18% of voters thought she was being broadly honest.
The same poll found that the percentage of voters picking Labour as the most trusted party on the economy is now below five points lower than the Conservative Party under Liz Truss.
The chancellor was accused of saying the economy was weaker than it actually was to justify tax rises in the budget, a claim both she and Sir Keir Starmer deny.
