Warnings in place for most of the country as 'weather bomb' forecast

Storm Goretti is "rapidly deepening" creating a "weather bomb" as it hits the UK, say forecasters, with warnings in place for large parts of the country.

The storm, which was named by the French meteorological service, will move in across the UK throughout today – bringing impacts such as strong winds, heavy rain and heavy snow.

Large parts of the UK have already experienced heavy snow and in some areas, particularly in Scotland, schools have been closed since Monday due to adverse weather conditions.
