Watch as experiment shows explosion impact on soldiers’ brains

What are the effects on the brains of troops following exposure to a blast? Traumatic Brain Injury can be caused by repeated exposure to blasts, even from troops firing their own weapons. It can have life changing consequences and is routinely undiagnosed or misdiagnosed by the NHS. In the UK, unlike the US, there are no restrictions on how much blast overpressure troops can be exposed to in training. ITV News has looked at how exposure to even low levels of blast can impact the human brain.
The Ministry of Defence told ITV News:
"The long-term effects of blast exposure on the brain are now able to be scientifically investigated in ways not previously available. Causation has not yet been shown and is the subject of this ongoing research. We take emerging evidence seriously, and we base policy on robust science.”
