The UK Supreme Court is set to rule on the legal definition of a woman, following a challenge brought by women’s rights campaigners.
The ruling, to be announced on Wednesday morning, is expected to set out whether or not the definition of a woman in the Equality Act 2010 includes transgender women with gender recognition certificates (GRC).
It follows a long-running legal battle over the definition of “woman” in Scottish legislation between the Scottish government and the campaign group For Women Scotland (FWS).
