Donald Trump says ‘a lot of progress’ has been made in negotiations to end the war in Ukraine, but that ‘one or two thorny issues’ remain.
The President spoke alongside Volodymyr Zelenskyy after the pair met at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida.
Downing Street said Sir Keir Starmer spoke with Trump and Zelenskyy alongside other European leaders – and said the importance of ‘robust security guarantees’ was underlined.
President Zelenskyy said this was the "key milestone in achieving lasting peace".
Trump said this was "close to 95%" done.
The much anticipated talks appear to have ended without any material shift in position – with land still the most difficult issue to resolve.
Donald Trump couldn’t put a timeline on bringing about an end to the war.
The President said he would be speaking with Russia’s President Vladimir Putin shortly.
