Thousands of people have witnessed the UK’s best solar eclipse in almost thirty years – with some in Europe even catching a glimpse of a rare total eclipse.
More than 90% of the sun was obscured by the moon on Wednesday evening between 6.17pm and 8.06pm, the most it has been blocked in the UK since the 1999 total eclipse.
The phenomenon began in Siberia, Russia, before becoming visible in Norway, Alaska, Greenland and western Europe.
