President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said that Ukraine has to confront the possibility of losing its dignity or a key partner as it determines how to respond to a US peace proposal.
The proposed plan would reportedly require Ukraine to surrender territory and accept limits on its armed forces in exchange for peace.
Brokered between Washington and Moscow, it is seen as favourable to Russia and risks driving a wedge between Trump and European leaders determined not to reward Vladimir Putin’s aggression.
