On tonight’s Evening News:
The city of Doha in the gulf state of Qatar was expecting, once again, to be hosting peace talks about Gaza.
The Hamas delegation was in place.
Instead Qatar has become the latest sovereign country to have its airspace invaded by the Israeli airforce in Israel’s relentless pursuit of the Hamas leadership.
Shortly after notifying the White House, it pounded a residential building to the north of central Doha where five of those leaders were staying – causing destruction there and outrage across much of the world.
Hamas said its leadership team survived but five other members were killed. It claimed the American peace plan they were due to discuss had been used to lure them to a meeting in order to attack them.
