We don’t know that much about the start either – not the terrible experiences of those who call Tehran home. A blacked out internet and the ongoing stranglehold of a repressive regime make that almost impossible.
But tonight we have the secret despatch from a city under fire, made at great personal risk by an Iranian film maker, in a collaboration between ITV News and the documentary studio Zandland.
It is one woman’s view of the first ten days of the war as she chronicles how celebration turns to desperation.
To protect her identity and her safety, her voice has been altered using A.I.
