On ITV’s News at Ten: The Prime Minister is facing fresh questions over his judgement and leadership tonight after he was forced to sack Lord Peter Mandelson as UK ambassador to the United States.
Sir Keir Starmer had previously stood by him – after documents showed Mandelson had called convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein a ‘great pal’ – but more damaging revelations emerged overnight.
Mandelson said the job had been the ‘privilege of his life’ in a letter released this evening – and that he ‘deeply’ regretted his association with Epstein. Massive questions remain about how much damage might have been done to Sir Keir Starmer’s already bruised administration.
Meanwhile: The FBI earlier released a photograph of a man wanted over the assassination of right-wing activist Charlie Kirk at an open-air event in Utah – and offered up to $100,000 for information. The killer has still not been caught nearly 24 hours after the shooting which has shocked the country. Tributes have been paid to Mr Kirk – a father of two – who was a close ally of U.S. President Donald Trump.
