Serial killer Steve Wright is appearing at the Old Bailey to be sentenced for the murder of teenager Victoria Hall on Friday, having changed his plea on the first day of his trial to admit his sixth murder.
The dramatic change of plea on Monday – which drew gasps in the courtroom at the Old Bailey – was the first time the so-called "Suffolk Strangler" had ever admitted guilt for any of his crimes.
Wright, now 67, pleaded guilty to the murder in 1999 of 17-year-old Victoria Hall, seven years before he went on to kill five women in Ipswich in a six-week spree that terrorised the county.
