The Liberal democrat leader Ed Davey is expected to call for a global nuclear-style non-proliferation treaty to halt the development of super-intelligent AI during his keynote speech at the Liberal Democrat Conference.
His main address on the final day of the gathering in Brighton, is expected to detail his call for a global pause on super-intelligent AI, comparing it to a nuclear arms race that could result in technology that could “destroy us all”.
He is also looking to quash concerns from within his party over whether the party’s political future ambition is big enough.
