The Liberal Democrat leader is warning some want to "tear our country apart" as he refers to anti-migrant protests in Dover and Portsmouth.
He added that there is a need for "community politics" and showing people that "democracy works for them"
He is also expected to call for a global nuclear-style non-proliferation treaty to halt the development of super-intelligent AI during his keynote speech at the Liberal Democrat Conference.
His main address on the final day of the gathering in Brighton, is expected to detail his call for a global pause on super-intelligent AI, comparing it to a nuclear arms race that could result in technology that could “destroy us all”.
He is also looking to quash concerns from within his party over whether the party’s political future ambition is big enough.
