Fans of Dolly Parton have been gathering to lay flowers and other tributes following her death.
A statement from Parton’s publicist said the iconic songwriter, singer and actor died peacefully at the age of 80 in Nashville, Tennessee after a brief battle with cancer.
Parton wrote and sang hundreds of songs, including classics like “Jolene,” “Coat of Many Colors” and “I Will Always Love You,” that totalled more than 100 million worldwide sales and more than one billion online streams.
Tributes poured in for Parton, who was among the most beloved personalities in music and beyond — the rare celebrity whose appeal transcended generations, geography and politics.
