Watch LIVE ITV Evening News - 'demonic' asylum seeker sentenced over Walsall murder | ITV News

An asylum seeker has today been jailed for the murder of Rhiannon Whyte who was stabbed 23 times at Walsall’s Bescot Stadium railway station in October 2024.

Described by his victim’s family as ‘demonic and inhuman’, Deng Chol Majek is thought to have entered the country by small boat less than three months before launching a frenzied assault on Rhiannon Whyte.

Passing sentence at Coventry Crown Court, Mr Justice Soole told Majek he had brought ‘devastation’ to the family of the hotel worker as he imposed a life sentence for murder.
