Watch live – President Trump hosts Ukraine’s President Zelenskyy day after ‘productive’ Putin call

Fresh from brokering a ceasefire and hostage deal between Israel and Hamas, Trump has said ending the war in Ukraine is now his top foreign policy priority and has voiced new confidence about his chances of achieving it.

Donald Trump is hosting Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the White House.

Zelenskyy will meet Trump a day after the US president held a lengthy phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin to discuss the war.

Trump had recently signalled some openness to selling Ukraine long-range Tomahawk cruise missiles, despite Putin warning the move would hurt ties between Washington and Moscow.

But after speaking with Putin on Thursday, Trump appeared to downplay the chances of Ukraine receiving the missiles.
