A Cyprus court has ruled David Hunter, a British pensioner who killed his terminally ill wife, is not guilty of premeditated murder.
The court found him guilty of manslaughter.
Janice Hunter, who was 74 and had cancer, died in December 2021 at the couples home, near Paphos.
Mr. Hunter, 75, has admitted to suffocating his wife but said it was assisted suicide and denied murder.
Cyprus currently does not have laws permitting assisted dying but the island’s parliament is due to discuss euthanasia under medical supervision after its summer recess.
