Work and Pensions Secretary Liz Kendall says the government will "redouble efforts" to reform the welfare system after Trump’s tariffs sent shockwaves through global economies.
In this interview with ITV News’ Deputy Political Editor Anushka Asthana on Wednesday, Kendall said she’s "concerned" about the global financial situation, "and that makes this work here even more important."
When asked whether a jobs crisis sparked by Trump’s tariffs could make her job harder, she replied: "Will we redouble our efforts? Yes. Will we work even harder to provide more support to get people into work? Yes, we will."
But, she insisted, "we will be doing this whatever the global financial situation".
