We think digital IDs will be 'safer and more secure', says Culture Secretary

Culture Secretary Lisa Nandy has defended the government’s plans to introduce digital IDs.

She told Sky News: "We want to make sure every UK citizen has access to it, so that they can use it. We think it will be safer and more secure."

The plans will be set out in more detail by Sir Keir Starmer, who has been swayed into approving them in order to tackle illegal migration – having originally harboured concerns about civil liberties.
