'We were told the only way we'd leave was if we were dead'

Arturo Suarez was an aspiring singer living the American dream in North Carolina.

But he captured global attention when in a Kafkaesque change of fortune, he found himself languishing in a maximum prison in El Salvador.

The 34-year-old was one of more than 250 Venezuelan men rounded up by the Trump administration and deported, despite having no criminal record.

He told the story of his incarceration and eventual release to Sky’s Martha Kelner.
