Welsh town declares major incident as businesses left underwater by Storm Claudia | ITV News

A major incident was declared in Monmouthshire on Saturday after Storm Claudia caused "severe and widespread flooding", leading to dozens being evacuated from their homes.

The River Monnow burst its banks and caused severe flooding in Monmouth, south-east Wales, after a month’s worth of rain fell on Friday.

Emergency crews were called to provide additional support, including police and ambulance, mountain rescue and coastguard workers.

Some were left trapped inside their businesses overnight as flood waters swept through their front doors.

Four severe flood warnings remain in place on Saturday evening amid fears there may still be a danger to life.
