Defence Secretary John Healey has said a Russian spy ship spotted just outside British waters is mapping out UK undersea cables.
Mr Healey said personnel on the Yantar had fired lasers at British RAF pilots sent to monitor the vessel.
He added that the ship was north of Scotland and had entered UK waters for the second time this year during the last few weeks.
Russia denies the claims.
