In support of President Maia Sandu, the leaders of France, Germany, and Poland joined Moldova’s Independence Day celebrations. Sandu is facing elections next month and has centered her campaign for another term in office around joining the European Union. Although her Party of Action and Solidarity currently holds a majority in parliament, polls suggest this could change.
