
To Sudan now, where the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces, who have been battling the army for over two years, say they have agreed to a proposal for a humanitarian truce put forward by mediators.
The paramilitary group captured the major city of el-Fasher more than a week ago, pushing the army out of its last stronghold in the western Darfur region. The RSF has been accused of mass killings, looting and sexual violence. Millions have been displaced. On Thursday several aid organisations warned that the humanitarian crisis in el-Fasher is escalating.
