The leaders of France and Germany say they will provide more air defense hardware to Ukraine. President Emmanuel Macron has been hosting Chancellor Friedrich Merz in the southern port city of Toulon. The leaders discussed ways to strengthen economic ties. They also talked about nuclear deterrence and shared security challenges – above all, the war in Ukraine.
After the meeting Chancellor Merz said Russia is ignoring all diplomatic efforts to end the war.
