WHO claims more hantavirus cases possible after cruise ship outbreak, but risk remains low

The World Health Organization (WHO) has confirmed there are five confirmed cases of hantavirus linked to an outbreak on a cruise ship, and a further three suspected cases.

In a press conference, members of the agency said it is possible that more cases could arise linked to the outbreak, but the overall risk to the public is low.

The cruise ship is heading towards Tenerife, where the remaining passengers could be evacuated as early as May 11th.
