Why are Musk and Trump going after USAID?

Staff at the US Agency for International Development have been barred from its headquarters, which was blocked off this morning by Homeland Security officers.

Elon Musk warned that USAID would be shut down altogether, calling it a "criminal organisation" that "needs to die".

The Secretary of State Marco Rubio told reporters that he was now the acting administrator of the agency.
