‘Why don’t we call it Mexican America?’: Claudia Sheinbaum hits back at Trump

Mexico’s president, Claudia Sheinbaum, has suggested North America could be renamed ‘Mexican America’ in response to Donald Trump’s pledge to rename the Gulf of Mexico the ‘Gulf of America’. Sheinbaum used a map from 1607 to demonstrate an early portrayal of North America, including the United States. The comments came after Trump talked about a broad expansionist agenda that could include taking control of the Panama canal, Greenland and Canada
