Why is Iran offering £45,000 for missing US pilot?

US and Iranian forces are racing to find a missing American crew member after a fighter jet was struck down in Iran.

The F-15E Strike Eagle was struck down over south west Iran on Friday, with one crew member, reported to be the pilot, being rescued.

One other, said to be a weapons systems officer, is missing, US officials said.

Iranian state media urged residents to hand over any "enemy pilot" to police, offering a reward equivalent to $60,000 or £45,000. It said the jet was hit by Iran’s air defence system.
