Why is this Hollywood actor taking Rochdale council to court over his ‘Downton Shabby’ project?

Former filmmaker and actor Hopwood DePree is taking Rochdale council to the High Court following a dispute over a property in Greater Manchester.

DePree began renovating the property in 2017 but had to stop work on it in 2024 after being locked out by the council.

The council says Hopwood was in breach of the terms of the sale of the property, which he denies.
