Andy Burnham will make his return to Westminster after winning the Makerfield by-election.
The Mayor of Greater Manchester swept to victory as he held on to the Labour stronghold with a majority of 9,231.
Following his return to Westminster as an MP, Burnham is widely expected to challenge Sir Keir Starmer for leadership and could trigger a contest.
Starmer had previously said if Labour won Makerfield, he would offer Andy Burnham a cabinet job saying "I want him to have a big role in government".
Burnham has since confirmed he will not be taking any government role that may be offered to him by Starmer.
