Why Zelenskyy sacked Ukraine’s top Army General

After weeks of speculation Ukraine President Zelenskyy has dismissed the commander-in-chief of the army – General Zaluzhnyi.

In a video message following the news Zelenskyy spoke of the need for a ‘renewal’ of the armed forces. Zaluzhnyi is hugely popular in Ukraine and a rift between the two men had become very public.
